When we set out to design and build modular cabins, we wanted to create cabins that perform as well as (or better than) traditional site-built cabins while eliminating the most common long-term headaches owners face. That means choosing materials that have proven themselves in harsh climates—materials that resist settling, moisture, hot and cold climates, and snow loads without constant upkeep. The result is a cabin that stays quiet, energy-efficient, and beautiful for generations, whether you use it a few weekends a year or live in it full-time.
Everything on the following pages is standard unless noted as an upgrade. This isn't a comprehensive list of every component or product that we use, but general rundown of the products and materials we use in every cabin. We want you to have reassurance that quality material and products are being used for your cabin, ensuring a well built, durable cabin.
Structural Framing & Foundation for a Lifetime
We source our lumber from trusted partners, ensuring consistent quality. Meeting our quality control and engineered modular cabin specifications. Making sure every cabin has strong bones, preventing squeaking floors or doors sticking.
- LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber) beams and headers — 2–3× stronger than traditional lumber with almost zero warping, twisting, or splitting.
- Simpson Strong-Tie connectors — the gold standard in structural hardware, rigorously tested to handle wind, snow, and time.
- Every frame is built to local codes so your cabin stands straight and true for generations.
Metal Roofing Built to Withstand all Weather
Your roof takes the worst punishment nature can dish out. Our standard metal roofing is designed to shrug it off and still look great decades later.
- 29-gauge steel (0.0153" thick)

Bulletproof Weather Protection
Moisture is the #1 enemy of any home. Here at Trailhead Cabins we take great care in wrapping and sealing every cabin we build to ensure water and moisture stay out, giving you peace of mind.

- ZIP System® roof sheathing (integrated weather barrier) on all roofs for faster builds and an extra layer of protection
- On roofs, it commonly eliminates the need for separate underlayment like tar paper, but we still use it for extra precaution.
